The Snow Wolf is a type of snow that runs like wolves through the trees. Made of twigs and snowflakes, they stalk lost hunters in the wilderness freezing to death. Slowly, the winter kills them, and the snow wolves consume their prey.

And the Dream Queen is a giant entity that lives beyond reality, sending out her dream ghosts to find creature's dreams. She takes the dreams and invites them to live in her city, so the dreams can grow up and become reality!

Ollie the Octopus

I made this under an hour, as fast as i could. I then traded it for a stuffed animal that my friend made. His name is Ollie the Octupus, he talks in beeps and boops because he is actually retarded. Not retarded in a funny way, retarded in a doesn't talk much and only kinda squeeks. He's still a cutey though but his brain will never develop like other octupi. Poor octupus.

Hello, this is Ulises. So today, a little website went up. Kinda awesome. A New Elegant Universe has a website now. Right now, there's just a little welcome screen.

I'm not sure i ever mentioned it, but me and Maureen are planning to expand what we're doing with A New Elegant Universe. Along with publishing our own comics and making stuffed animals, we're gonna increase the amount of things we make and also start a little bit of distributing. A little universe of like-minded writers, artists, musicians, etc.

We're gonna keep writing in this blog, because i like to make posts of upcoming things and plans and i like to talk a lot.

So, i'm excited.

Oodles of Doodles

This update is kinda random, but i think it will be good. Every once in awhile, i go through an old notebook and i take out every doodle that i think is extra good or a good beginning of an idea and i scan them into my computer, then i put the notebook away. I dont really like to keep a sketch book, since i kinda feel a bit restricted to having to take out a book to start putting ideas down. So i doodle on anything, and i doodle the most when i'm supposed to be paying attention to something else. Since i've been working on motro the most, i'll put up some doodles i did for Motro before i ever drew any pages.

A lot of the doodles you see there will probably make there way into Motro eventually. One of my favorite characters is a tough guy with no lower jaw, he's a small little doodle, hard to see. Look for him. There's some strange shaped heads on the page too.

This is the Evil Thinker, he's a son of an inhabitant of AsianLand and of Ash'Ruhh (Ash'Ruhh is where Motro takes place, it is north to AsianLand). I believe he'll make a good enemy for Motro at some point.

This is a baby Ice Lion, which is also in the first five pages of Motro. It is the beast that gets a big punch to his face. The babies start off really fluffy and soft like cotton balls. They develop into fearsome creatures though. What a sweet face as a kitty lion.

Now here are some more doodles.

This is Cool Bear. He's a stupid bear who wears stupid fashions. Of course, some ladies love him, some guys want to be him, but he doesn't know how to read. He's really stupid. Sometimes he buys girls pants. Maybe he's from Italy or something?

This is a quick scene sketch for the upcoming comic of Super Speed Ball Run, issue 2. Its pretty obvious what it is. I especially liked the fellow who speaks to Enrique. Sometimes i draw weird looking animals of no particular species, and they look so goofy or awkward that i love them. I picture this guy being a doctor of some sort or maybe a low level business guy who may be promoted soon. But i bet even his son kinda ignores him sometimes.

Before i drew the picture of all the Gigantapes, i drew a doodle of a Gigantape in "Galactic Armor" and called him Galactape. Gigantapes protect the Earth, so Galactapes are Gigantapes that go off and protect the galaxy.

This is what the skeleton of a Gigantape looks like. They're arms have no fingers, and no fore arm bones. They move through what is called a "muscular hydrostat", a biological structure also found in octupi or the trunk of an elephant. Many of the creatures in a New Elegant Universe have similar body structures, including the people of Motro, although they do have bones in their arms, they are much smaller and of much less use to the people of Motro than typical humans.

(The people you see in Motro, and of that current era in Ash'Ruhh, are humans, but of a different breed. When they are born, they have the same proportions as an adult just smaller in scale, they also have the same faces, but unwrinkled and unscarred.)

These are ghosts. The Ghosts of A New Elegant Universe are related to a few things. They all come from the Negaspace (A space that exists outside of the multiverse, but is not apart from it and is not a universe itself) and so share some sort of connection to other inhabitants and travelers through the Negaspace. One of those travelers is an Energy Alien:

The Alien Being of Energy is actually the Alien that gives life to the DirtMen, Lavamen, Rockmen, etc. The Lava Men are the servants to Lord Lavatron, and can be seen in the drawing of Lord Lavatron wreaking havoc that i have posted before. They have no solid state, and must inhabit inorganic matter to move about. When they lived in space, before they encountered Lord Lavatron's 77 rockets, they existed in a system of asteroids and planetoids connected by their collected energy mass. They did not travel much because they find it difficult to construct and invent complicated machinery, instead they usually discover ancient abandoned space craft and inhabit them. These ancient ships become like bodies to them, and an explorer would not even realize that a drifting craft contained an entire population of these aliens. They can also mate with ghosts, it is possible, but it does not happen since ghosts are elements of death and dead people. Also related to the Negaspace is Red Eye Crow Dog.

He was once a proud husky, who on a fatal trip to a dark land, him and a group of other carnivores were exposed to particles of the Negaspace, leaking into the New Elegant Universe. He became the living embodiment of desperation and grief, and is feared by all. His Red Eye appears when someone commits suicide or dies in desperation.

This is a picture of Lord Lavatron of the 77 Rockets before he became an evil thing. He wasn't evil before, just a stressed out angry man. It is a picture of him at 39 and at 60. His age now is unknown, but it spans the entire existence of a New Elegant Universe, making him one of its original creations. He is not immortal though, just unlucky enough to miss other worlds forever.

This is a dead astronaut, a pilot of one of the 77 rockets, that were all launched with bits of Lord Lavatron's brain. A cryptic scene.

These here are all of Lizard Man Ghost and things related to him.

The Above is of a proto-evolutionary phase of the Lizard Man Ghost. And above it is the tadpole version of him. Lizard Man Ghost wasn't always a ghost, although his ghost form is not much different than his original body. He now can just phase through walls. The Lizard Men (not their formal scientific name, by the way) go through an amphibious phase where they briefly resemble tadpoles and axolotyls. I think i spelled that wrong.

This is a cousin of Lizard Man Ghost. That's all.

At one point, before the Lizard Man Monster was huge and destroyed Lizard Man Ghost's planet, he was simply a little flower in the park that Lizard Man Ghost naively watered. It really was a transplanetary sapling of the monster, and the only one of his species to grow on Lizard Man's planet. It was sad fate that brought the two together. Even worse, now Lizard Man Ghost is the only one who battles the beast through the universe forever and ever.

This is a spacesuit design for Lizard Man Ghost. All the sensory functions are replicated by the suit itself, protecting the wearer from all dangers. This can lead to danger though, for a person inside the suit will not be able to tell if something is going wrong with the suit if it is manipulating his senses. Although completely protected, he is completely dependant on the suit.

This is a very strange weird ornamental battle helmet for Lizard Men. It is no longer used in battle, except for ceremonial purposes.

Below, is a very weird creature. It is hard to see. The doodle i did, i sorta drew over him. But if you look hard, it is a Man Head Fish. A thin rectangular fish that resembles the head of a bald man. It also whistles as it swims. Not on purpose, but because of a design of its body and gills. Its very rare and bizarre.

The Dinoxors versus the Wall Eyed's!

The Dinoxors have invaded, the shock troops of the mysterious transdimensional ships that have entered Satex, ready to do battle. But at the defense are the Wall Eyed's! A Superhero team of poor strabismus suffering animals; a Pug, a Puffer Fish, and an Owl. Each one has a special item that grants them a strange undefined power. The Pug seems to be able to shoot a beam of hearts from a watch, and the Owl seems to have a strange thought plant creator...the Puffer Fish seems to be floating in a bunch of bubbles...we're not sure thats his power though. These sad superheros though are in over their head, and the Dinoxors haven't even noticed them standing about. Maybe they should try other superhero things, like telling kids not to stare too close at the television. Maybe they'll realize they are overwhelmed and run away!

The Ultra Evil Lord Lavatron of the Seventy Seven Rockets!

This is the most evil character in Lord Lavatron. Well, evil by human standards. There is a character that is more evil than he, but it is more of a force of nature rather than a conscious decision to be cruel.

Many years ago, Lord Lavatron was just a normal lad who wanted to find the edge of the universe. He built seventy-seven rockets and put a piece of his brain into each. Many years after the rockets' rocketmen had died, the rockets stilled lived on, with a dim sort of intelligence. One brain began to redevelop itself, and after the rocket was picked up by an alien race, began to make moves to take it over.

This disconnected brain in a vat, mixed with bits of machine and computer is what may have turned Lord Lavatron's spirit so dark. And years after the launch of the seventy seven rockets, an alien ship crashed into satex. Bringing with it the evil of Lord Lavatron and a strange sort of aliens made of ambient energies that took the form of surrounding materials.

In Satex, they took the permanent forms of The Rock Men, The Dirt Men, and the Lava Men. The Lava Men are behind Lord Lavatron in this picture of him wreaking havoc on a highway. They are the break away faction of aliens that betrayed their race to aid Lord Lavatron reconstitute his form.

This is Ippo, he's a pygmy hippo with a television in him. He's sold under the brandname "IppoTV". Ippo's are silly and playful, and will change the channel on you if they don't like the show you are watching. Bad shows make their tummies ache. Since they are hippos, they like to swim in water..but don't let them! They're electronics will go wacky and they'll have to be sent to a veterinarian and a tv repair man! Those doctors are hard to find. Plus, its quite difficult working on the insides of a Ippo, they have lots of blubber and vacuum tubes and wires and organs all mixed up. But if you like fat squishy things and televisions inside them, then an IppoTV is the way to go.

This is a picture I took of Nikola on a roadtrip. He is sitting against the dead wood. He was reluctant to go, because his mansion was under construction and he hates heat since he is from russia. Nikola Tesla is a bear cat that was named after the frequently overlooked inventer by the name of Nicola Tesla. Nikola Tesla is also an inventor. He has invented a sentient lawn mower. But he mostly takes part in research and analysis of the natural world. Nikola has had many wives, and is a widower 3 times over. His life has been hard and sad, and he drinks often because of this. He has an uneasy friendship with Ulises Farinas. He also exists both in Satex, and in the outerverse as a stuffed animal (that was made by ulises).

A Battle for Survival!

This is the gleeful Lizard Man Ghost, who's falling through the sky fighting the evil beast called the Lizard Man Monster. The Lizard Man Ghost is a ghost, and is the last of his species. He seeks help to restore his people to life. So he travels to earth. The Lizard Man Monster is also a ghost, but more of a monster, and constantly seeks to eat the last Lizard Man (although they are both dead). The Lizard Man Ghost is always happy, no matter what...even extinctions don't upset him. He is naked all the time, because he lost his clothes in battle. This does not explain why he wasn't wearing clothes when he was flying around, instead he was just wearing a red towel as a cape. He is silly. He follows Ulises around, because he thinks Ulises has the answer to his problem. The Lizard Man Monster is a nasty thing, which is similar to the the Lizard Man Ghost in that it has a circular head with spikes..but the monster has many spikes and many eyes. Why? I don't know. He is a devourer of worlds. Good LUCK TO LIZARD MAN GHOST!

I thought this would be an interesting side note..since the Lizard Man Ghost is some type of evolved dinosaur from another planet, i found these pictures of what an evolved dinosaur WOULD look like. A guy named Dale Russel came up with it. Here is a picture of an evolved Troodon (a type of dinosaur)

"In a thought experiment conducted in 1982, paleontologist Dale Russell, curator of vertebrate fossils at the National Museum of Canada in Ottawa, conjectured that, had the Chicxulub meteorite not exterminated the dinosaurs 65 million years ago, bipedal predators which existed at that time, such as Troodon, would have evolved into a humanoid intelligent form not unlike our own. Troodontids had manipulative fingers and binocular vision. Like most dinosaurs of the Troodont family, this creature, the Dinosauroid, would have had large eyes and three fingers on each hand, one of which would have been partially opposed. As with most modern reptiles (and birds), its genitalia would have been internal. Russell speculated that it would have required a navel, as a placenta aids the development of a large brain case, however it would not have possesed mammary glands, and would have fed its young, as birds do, on regurgitated food. Its language would have sounded somewhat like bird song."

I like this. Lizard Man Ghost has his genitals on the outside, i guess he evolved some distinct mammalian characteristics...like external ears too. Oh well. I enjoy this.

GIGANTAS!

These are the Gigantas! Gigantas are a strange type of animal that tends to grow forever. The biggest one in the picture is the Galactape! He's a Gigantape that has went off into space to go do good deeds throughout the cosmos. The smaller one is just a regular gigantape. Gigantapes start off as little seeds, smaller than a snail, and grow until they want to stop. When they decide to stop growing, some just decide to sleep. And they sleep for so long that they might turn into Baby Hills, and Mountain Faces. You can see Baby Hill and a Mountain Face in the bottom of the drawing. The other Gigantas are Kiwahirsuta, a Lobster Giganta, with furry arms. Gigantsquid is in the foreground, with a Gigantslug on his head dripping slime. And there's a Gigantabehr, wearing a unitard and playing with his bunny buddy. I hope you like this picture.

This is the first drawing i ever drew of a Gigantape, since then, i draw gigantapes all the time. They are one of my favorite creatures in the New Elegant Universe.

And this last drawing is a cover design for the Role Playing System i'm writing. When its done, i'll post some of it. But it wont be done for a long time.

This Dragon is in a super fight with a helicopter over Goliath City.

Dragons come from the moon. Its a long story i was working on, but its too long for me to do right now. Maybe one day. They live in a nice little land under the surface...its a place where there are no horizons, because horizons only occur when something curves away from you, but if you live INSIDE a sphere...no horizons.

This is a model sheet i made for a toy i want to make. Notice the Asian Man? He's the guy from ASIAN LAND! (look below). The other character is a Gangster Sparrowkeet. He has a little blade..cause he wants to be cool. Too bad they're so cute...no one takes his gang seriously.

Giant Green Algae Bear, pencils

This is the 2nd drawing of giant monsters attacking a city. Its called "THE GOLIATH BATTLES"....we'll call the city, Goliath City.
The Giant Green Algae Bear is a bear that forms in ports and harbors of places that have polluted too much. Often times, when a water system is disturbed, the plant growth explodes, until it sucks up all the oxygen, and then all the fishies die. All this negative energy and plantyness comes together into the giant shape of a Polar Bear...and then knocks some buildings over.

...and to explain what Ulitron is.

Ulitron is a giant orbiting robot, piloted by literally little Green Men. Not green like grass, more of a chatreuse..i think i spelled that wrong. But yes. All of Ulitron's limbs and body parts, separate into smaller self contained space ships. In the drawing below, you can see that the mouth has detached. Ulitron is normally a peaceful robot, that wanders the forests of Satex, observing the little animals. For some reason, they have been manipulated by some evil force into attacking Goliath City.

At night, beneath its robotic skin, you can see little lights and movement.

A NEW ELEGANT UNIVERSE

I just created this blog out of my frustration with my website construction. Oh well. I am Ulises Farinas. Together with Maureen Newman, we are the happy happy creators of "A New Elegant Universe"...This is what i wrote on our "card":

"The New Elegant Universe is a place of growth and love, for children to believe in their imagination again. There are bunnies and pirates and vast landscapes to explore. This world is gentle, and every detail is living."

I thought that was a nice way of putting it. We make comics and stuffed animals and music and even clothing occasionally. Today, lets look at some crocheted creatures that Maureen made, based on characters from "A New Elegant Universe".
